POLS TALKS announces,<\/p>\n

“Back to a divided continent? Europe 25 years after the collapse of the
\niron curtain”<\/p>\n

Abstract: “The conflict between Russia and the West turned from a stage of
\npragmatic competition into direct confrontation in 2014. The annexation
\nof Crimea and the conflict in Eastern Ukraine pose huge challenges for
\nEurope. Do we face a return to the Cold War? What are the risks of further
\nescalation? This lecture deals with the evolution of relations between
\nEast and West and the confrontation over Ukraine. It
\nlooks at deeper structural problems behind the current conflict, related
\nto Russia\u2019s position in Europe and clashing integration projects.”<\/p>\n

The lecture is held by Dr. Tom Casier, Academic Director of the Brussels
\nSchool of International Studies (BSIS) of the University of Kent. He holds
\na Jean Monnet Chair and is an expert on EU-Russia relations and
\ncoordinates an international research project on this subject.<\/p>\n
